So with just ONE autocomplete entry it fails after I close and reopen Outlook.Ive duplicated the problem on my computer using Win 10 v.
Microsft Outlook Version 15.38 Autopoplate Addresses Not Working Windows 7 32 BitOffice 2016 64 bit with my own mailbox and on a Windows 7 32 bit PC running Outlook 2010 32 bit - so PC build doesnt seem to matter.Have read numerous posts on SpiceWorks and elsewhere with the same problem listed and am pretty sure I have tried everything listed as a solution - and then some. Autocomplete now works partially with some but not of the emails popping up and no new ones get added. Uninstalled Office and deleted all traces from C: and registry and then reinstalled - no effect 3. Made sure all Windows updates were installed and caught up on another PC 6. Manually deleted RoamCAche from usernameAppDataLocalMicrosoftOutlookRoamCache 10. The problem as initially reported to me was that some autocomplete entries that used to pop up were no longer showing and new entries were not being added. I finally realized the reason this was happening is that by default the autocomplete cache has a limit of 1000 entries and after that apparently it starts dropping email addresses off as you add new ones and sometimes fails to add new ones. This was the problem for both myself and another user who reported the issue. I also was under the mistaken impression that you could re-populate the autocomplete cache by adding suggested contacts to the TO address line of a new message and then close the message after all of the email addresses are underlined. That only works until you close Outlook and then they are all gone again. To repopulate the autocomplete cache you actually have the click the SEND button. You can do this without actually sending the message by setting a future delivery date and then deleting the message from the outbox or disconnecting your network connection right before hitting SEND and then deleting the message from the outbox before reconnecting. So steps to fix: 1. Close Outlook and delete userprofileAppDataLocalMicrosoftOutlookRoamCacheStreamAutocompleteBunch of Numbers Here.dat to delete local cache 2. Run Outlook cleanautocompletecache to clean server side copy of cache 3. Repopulate the AutoComplete cache from suggested contacts, ( and contacts and global address book if desired) - see above paragraph. Download and run NK2Edit (it also edits the AutoComplete cache in addition to the older nk2 files) and use controlshift key to selectdeletesave groups of old email addresses no longer needed to get the total well below 1000. You can set. HKEYCURRENTUSERSoftwareMicrosoftOfficex.0OutlookAutoNameCheck DWord:MaxNickNames2000 or some higher value although from what Ive read the cache may start behaving erratically if you do this. I did this for a user and set him up with nkedit to delete old emails and then Ill remove the key or lower it to the default 1000 afterward. I also emailed all users here suggesting they make a practice of deleting old email addresses when they pop up and are noticed to help ward off flaky autocomplete issues. Control K pops up matching suggestions in a dialog box from the global address book only - but not any of the hundreds more that should be in the autocomplete list. After this Outlook is supposed to intelligently drop addresses as it manages the list. Unfortunately its about as good at this as most Microsoft applications are at caching data intelligently. Expect that will come up some day but dont think thats the problem in this case. I just deleted the autocomplete cache under File-Options-Mail-Send Messages and also under AppDataLocalMicrosoftOutlook then closed and opened Outlook, entered my home email address, closed message, opened new message and my home email popped up, closedreopened Outlook and my home email address fails to pop up.
